what are the similarities/differences between postal mail and e-mail?

First, I will start with the similarities. You have to always put an address, as the letter needs a place to go. There is always a to address, and a return address, in case it gets lost, it will come back to you. When sending the letter, you put both in the mailbox and have it get sent. If the address is wrong, then it sends it back to you, as it has the return to sender as well.

Next, the differences. Starting with the obvious one, there is a physical letter that you have to write by hand, and an e-mailed letter would be typed online. You have a fee when you pay for a letter, as you have to pay for the stamps, while an e-mailed letter requires no fee as long as you have internet. Having a physical letter could also mean that it has more sentimental value than an e-mail, because of the effort it takes to create a physical letter. An e-mail can be created effortlessly, so it holds to the opposite, more of a less sentimental value than a physical one in my opinion. When creating a physical letter, there is a time you have to wait for the receiver of the letter to receive the letter, where time can vary. Compared to e-mail, you can write the letter and it will digitally send over to the receiver instantaneously. Another difference is that you might not be able to read someone's handwriting, while on the other hand, the e-mail will always be legible.
